What services does Turner Mining provide the industry?
Turner Mining Group is a mining partner that offers a range of services to clients throughout North America. In addition to mining services, we also provide equipment and machine solutions on a rental or lease basis. Our goal is to make the mining industry a better place by adhering to our three core values: a heart for people, an eye for safety, and a mind for innovation. We believe that the industry is ready for change, and we are dedicated to being part of the next generation of miners.
Can you expand on your presence in Arizona and future expansion plans in Nevada?
In Arizona, we currently work for Origin Mining Company at the Mineral Park mine. Our work involves hauling ore to leach pads, managing waste, and preparing to feed ore to a mill in the coming months. We have partnered with Komatsu Mining to build our fleet in Arizona.
As for Nevada, it is a priority growth area for us, and we already have some of our equipment solutions on a Kinross gold project. We plan to expand our operations in Nevada with a large workforce and equipment fleet, and we are committed to staying there for a long time.
How does Turner Mining help improve customers’ safety processes?
Safety is a top priority for Turner Mining, as we believe that a profitable mining operation cannot exist without safety. We understand that drilling operations carry inherent risks, and that is why we have safety representatives at every site we work on. We believe in a bottom-up and top-down approach to safety culture and encourage creative safety ideas from our employees. Safety is always at the forefront of our work, and we strive to build a safety culture within each organization we work with.
What is Turner Staffing Group’s role in tackling the current labor shortage in the industry?
The biggest challenge the mining industry currently faces is the labor shortage. It is difficult for any mine to attract, train, and retain young workers. At Turner Mining, we are committed to getting people excited about mining and helping them realize it is a viable career option. Our COO, Thomas Haun, leads Turner Staffing Group, which is dedicated to connecting people who want to work in mining with mines that have job openings. We have a network of 4,000 applicants at any given time and believe that a strong social media presence is key to showcasing the modern side of the mining industry.
How does Turner Mining help customers achieve their ESG goals?
ESG has become a buzzword in the mining industry, and we believe it is an excellent way to raise money for investors. However, at Turner Mining, we go beyond that and strive to have a positive impact on the community. Local stigmas can often be a challenge for mining operations, but we believe there are plenty of social initiatives that can involve local communities. We understand that many corporate players are disconnected from what is happening at the local level, and we strive to bridge that gap. One of the ways we help clients achieve their ESG goals is by assisting them with their waste and spillage. Small actions at the site level can make a big difference statewide.
Is the future bright for contractors offering automation services in the drilling and blasting space?
Yes, we believe the future is bright for contractors offering automation services in the drilling and blasting space. We are less than a decade away from seeing full automation on a large scale, and we believe that future technological advancements will be beneficial for the industry. We see mining as an evolving industry that will continue to advance, and we believe that machines that do not require fuel are on the horizon. We believe that the question is not if automation will happen, but who will be on board early.
