What are your major takeaways from operating throughout 2020?

One of our proudest achievements was maintaining a COVID-19-free environment across our job sites throughout 2020, a notable feat considering the depth of subcontractors involved in the Canon project. With 150 subcontractors engaged in the midstream phase of the 133,000-square-foot project, adapting swiftly to pandemic challenges was imperative to ensure smooth progress and timely completion. We successfully navigated this adversity, implementing rapid changes such as the introduction of sanitizing stations, temperature checks, and mask mandates across all our projects.

What is your take on the future of office space in terms of layout and design?

Our perspective on office spaces involves close collaboration with commercial brokers who serve as invaluable resources. Engaging with industry giants such as CBRE, Cushman & Wakefield, and JLL offers insights into evolving trends. Contrary to popular belief, the post-pandemic scenario might not witness a significant surge in remote work preferences. Many individuals are eager to return to the office, craving the camaraderie and collaboration that in-person interactions foster. Nevertheless, there might be a trend towards downsizing office spaces, tailored to individual business needs. We anticipate tenants relinquishing some space back to buildings in 2021, reflecting these evolving dynamics.

What are the main priorities for Maddox Group in the near term?

Our primary goal is continuous growth, aiming to surpass our accomplishments from the preceding year. Despite the challenges of 2020, we had a reasonably successful year, and our focus is to build upon that foundation. Opportunities abound for those who’ve weathered the storm, and we stand poised to capitalize on these opportunities as a company that has remained resilient through challenging times.
