What does Egypt’s energy hub strategy mean for companies like yours?
Egypt’s energy hub strategy presents significant opportunities for companies in the sector. The country has several mega-projects in progress, including the Egyptian Refining Company (ERC), the West Nile Delta (WND) development, the Zohr gas field, and the Red Sea complex. These projects have the potential to drive market development and create opportunities for companies operating in the sector.
What recent shifts have you seen in Egypt’s energy industry?
We have witnessed recent shifts in the oil and gas industry with the establishment of the Zohr and WND hubs. However, we anticipate a similar boom in the power sector. Over the past five years, we have participated in three mega-projects in power generation, including the Burullus, New Capital, and Beni Suef power plants. While the market may be slowing down currently, there are plans for the development of existing petrochemical plants and the funding of new projects like the Red Sea complex, which could significantly transform the market.
What kind of services did you provide for ERC’s refinery?
Our company primarily provided services such as flange management and heat treatment for ERC’s refinery. PROWEACT has the largest fleet of on-site machining in the market and is the only company in Egypt capable of providing portable flange-facing machines up to 80 inches (2.03 meters). During the construction and pre-commissioning phases, we worked with GS Engineering and Construction. Now that EPROM (Egyptian Projects Operation and Maintenance) has taken over commissioning, operation, and maintenance for the ERC refinery, we have participated in some maintenance activities. Despite the challenges faced by the project, we have developed our capabilities and successfully repaired vital equipment on-site, saving time and costs by reducing downtime.
What kind of products and services does your company provide?
Our company offers a range of services, including integrated piping construction, prefabrication, welding, site installation, and welded and bolted joints. However, our specialization lies in heat treatment and flange management services. PROWEACT is the authorized agency for international brands like Globe Heat from the UK, providing heat treatment products. We have recently signed a distribution agreement with TorsionX, a US company specializing in controlled bolting tools such as hydraulic torquing tools. Additionally, we distribute products from PowerX, an American company specializing in hydraulic tools like jacks, flange spreaders, and nut splitters. We also provide services related to renewable energy, such as controlled bolting for wind towers using hydraulic torquing and tensioning tools.
What is the company’s strategy for growth?
Our strategy for growth involves focusing on specific services and related equipment based on market needs. We have identified a demand for professional flange facing services, which led us to develop the on-site machining sector and provide comprehensive services related to piping systems. Moving forward, we aim to invest in manufacturing equipment like pressure vessels and heat exchangers for the global market, expanding our capabilities and reaching a broader customer base.
