What is the present situation of Kuwait Airways?

Kuwait Airways has been operating since its establishment in 1954. Currently, we have a fleet of 34 aircraft, including 11 aircraft from the Amiri fleet. In response to evolving market demands, we recently restructured our Airbus contract and have plans to expand our fleet to approximately 50 aircraft by 2030. Our focus is not only on growing our fleet but also on expanding our network through strategic partnerships with other airlines. We have already announced major partnerships with Air Europa and Etihad Airways, providing our customers with more destinations and seamless travel options. With these partnerships, we can offer our customers over 60 direct destinations on our fleet and an additional 100 destinations through our partner airlines.

What other changes have been introduced by the company over recent months?

Over the past months, we have implemented several significant changes within Kuwait Airways. One of the first steps was an internal restructuring of the company, streamlining and integrating our management directorates by 20%. This exercise aimed to reduce overall structural costs and increase efficiency by merging departments and business units. The restructuring process was inspired by the lessons learned from the pandemic, with a focus on introducing greater workforce efficiencies. Additionally, we have restructured ourselves internationally, with 16 Kuwaiti nationals, both female and male, leading our business units and international markets for the first time in Kuwait Airways’ history. We have also prioritized fleet standardization, opting for a mix of three aircraft types: A320, A330, and B777 families. This standardization reduces costs related to fuel and maintenance by eliminating the need for different spare parts and specialized staff. In line with these changes, we have embarked on a major transformation program called Beyond Excellence (BE). This program aims to enhance our internal operations, achieve zero asset incidents, and improve on-time performance while focusing on commercial metrics. The BE program is integral to our future plans and aligns with our commitment to provide an exceptional customer experience.
