What is the role of R&D within Trado?

We maintain a close relationship with all our clients and listen to their feedback about our products. We work with them to improve the design, technology, and materials used in our products to meet their needs. For example, when Alcoa first came to us for drills to conduct exploratory operations in northern Brazil, we worked closely with them to improve the product. Now, we are working on complying with the strict safety regulations, such as those used in the EU.

How has the DNPM’s hold on exploration permits affected Trado in the past year, and what effect do you believe the new mining code will have on the industry?

Although the DNPM’s hold on exploration permits has caused serious problems for many of our clients over the last year, Trado had not been directly affected until very recently. However, now we are feeling the impact of the hold as our clients’ permits are starting to run out. We were experiencing a very positive year until March, but now we are not seeing the rate of growth we had hoped for. The new mining code is making us all in the industry nervous because we do not know what to expect. Hopefully, once it is released, it will restore confidence in the market and bring new investment into the sector.

What are the main differences between the technology used for Trado drills and conventional drilling methods?

Our drills are cheap, light, and effective compared to a standard drill rig. We offer significantly lower operation costs, and our rigs are simple to use, so it is not necessary to have a team of highly trained technicians to operate them. Our products are of high quality, have short lead times, and we are flexible in developing products suitable to our clients’ needs. Our portable equipment’s size allows access to exploration sites with no vegetation suppress, minimizing the ecological footprint, and its dry drilling process prevents environmental damage by oil or any other chemical products. It eliminates the need for any licenses or other bureaucratic processes regarding environmental issues.
