What were Torq Resources’ main milestones in the past year?
Approximately a year ago, Torq Resources acquired the Margarita IOCG and Andrea copper porphyry projects, which served as their entry projects into Chile. In November 2021, they were able to acquire the Santa Cecilia gold-copper project, which they believe will become Torq’s flagship asset. They also commenced a drilling program at the Margarita project in October 2021.
What potential does Torq Resources see in the Santa Cecilia gold-copper project in the Maricunga Belt?
Torq Resources sees great potential in the Santa Cecilia project, which is located in the southern region of the world-class Maricunga belt and is adjacent to the Norte Abierto project, jointly owned by Newmont and Barrick. The Caspiche and Cerro Casale gold-copper porphyry deposits at Norte Abierto contain proven and probable reserves of 23.2 million oz of gold and 5.8 billion pounds of copper. Santa Cecilia’s results from historical drill holes and additional surface and geophysical work suggest it has a similar mineral system to Norte Abierto, and Torq Resources believe they can make a discovery that will be attractive to a major mining company. The potential they are trying to unearth is whether Santa Cecilia, sandwiched between two major deposits currently suspended, can tip the economic scale for the entire complex.
How does Torq Resources intend to advance the Margarita IOCG project and Andrea copper porphyry project?
Torq Resources has established that oxide copper is prevalent all over the Margarita project through their drill program. They used RC (Reverse Circulation) drilling as it is less expensive than core drilling since their priority is to identify the copper sulphide source of oxide copper before defining further drill targets. They are currently waiting on assay results before deciding how to advance. On the other hand, Torq Resources has only done a small amount of work at Andrea as their plans were deferred when they acquired Santa Cecilia. They will continue to focus on Santa Cecilia for now and explore the potential at Andrea in the future.
How does Torq Resources view the current market sentiment for investment in copper junior companies?
Torq Resources believes that the electrification of the world will continue, and copper will soon run into a serious supply deficit. As a result, they anticipate significant interest and investment into copper moving forward, just in time for them to discover the next big porphyry copper-gold deposit in Chile.
What are Torq Resources’ priorities for the rest of 2022?
Torq Resources is currently in the process of building relationships with local communities since they recently acquired the Santa Cecilia project. They aim to establish a working relationship so they can make a discovery that benefits all stakeholders. Additionally, they plan to put money in the ground as quickly as possible to explore aggressively in 2022.
