Can you elaborate on the importance of the energy sector as a client to EximBank in Romania, and what role do you see the company playing in the sector in the future?
As a key sector of the Romanian economy, the energy industry is a strategic priority for EximBank. We are highly interested in companies operating in the energy field, and our long-term policy remains focused on supporting projects that ensure obtaining energy from renewable sources and projects of high energy efficiency funded by non-reimbursable funds. EximBank has had successful experiences with several partnerships in this field, and our significant role in the development of this segment has been constantly recognized by various organizations, including the recent Prize for Financing the Energy Sector awarded to us during the eighth Gala of the Energy CEO Forum & Awards.
Can you speak to the geography of investment in Romania’s energy industry?
In the current globalized landscape, geography is becoming less relevant, especially in the energy sector. Romania’s energy industry has a privileged position and can play an important role in the region and beyond. We believe that the progress made by companies with Romanian capital in expanding internationally during the last few years is a testament to this. EximBank is one of the preferred financial partners of Romanian entrepreneurs involved in complex energy projects outside the country, due to our capacity to structure complex financial facilities.
Which sectors of the local energy industry, such as production or distribution, are seeking financing?
EximBank is particularly interested in companies that are active in manufacturing and add value to the economy, especially exporters. However, the validity of proposed financial projects is the main factor that we consider when entering into a partnership.
Can you discuss how EximBank is developing its service offering to the energy sector based on current trends?
EximBank remains a pioneering force in Romania when it comes to structuring facilities for complex energy projects implemented by Romanian companies abroad. We anticipate that other banks will follow our lead and offer financing for Romanian companies looking to expand their foreign business portfolio, especially considering the support that EximBank can offer as a Romanian export credit agency.
