How do you ensure affordability for those on a fixed income?
Maintaining affordability is a complex issue influenced by our cost structure, mainly driven by real estate and operational expenses. Payroll accounts for a significant 60% of our costs. Interestingly, for seniors, their net worth often outweighs income significance due to the appreciating value of their homes over time.
How has telehealth impacted activities at Belmont Village Senior Living?
We leveraged our existing technology within the communities to empower residents and caregivers. Amid COVID-19 concerns about ER accessibility for seniors, we implemented a telehealth platform connecting expert geriatric doctors with our nurses. This real-time triage helped prevent unnecessary hospital visits and has become a lasting benefit from the pandemic.
What’s the vision for the Coral Gables project?
Baptist Health recognized the crucial link between senior housing and healthcare and sought a long-term partner to actualize this vision. Belmont Village’s expertise in development and operations, coupled with a commitment to sustained partnership, aligns with this goal. In Coral Gables, a parcel of land owned by Baptist Health perfectly suits senior living. Adjacent retail spaces and collaboration with a nearby high school offer a promising landscape. Collaborative projects with the school are underway, including the joint initiative, Healthy Living by Baptist, a health and wellness center on the ground floor. This center will significantly benefit both our residents and seniors in Coral Gables.
