How has SK Rental expanded its lines of business?

In 2021, we expanded our traditional value proposition with the entry into the rental of heavier special equipment. This is called operational renting, which seeks customized contracts for each client, for a period longer than two years. SK Rental’s value proposition involves providing an integral solution, composed of the supply of its own rental fleets and strategic allies, plus the sale of its own and consigned used equipment through its conventional channels (offices) and digital channels.

SK Rental has the capabilities to meet short, medium, and long-term rental needs, offering the acquisition of specialized equipment and operational renting. This allows their clients to focus on their own business activities, where they have great knowledge and generate the most value. Leaving the machinery and equipment solutions in the hands of SK Rental is the best option.

What fleet does SK Rental have in Peru and what investments have they made?

At SK Rental, we differentiate ourselves by constantly renewing our rental fleet every year. This allows us to maintain state-of-the-art equipment that provides benefits such as operator ergonomics and comfort, greater safety in operation and maintenance, or greater fuel efficiency. In addition, we maintain equipment with few hours and years of use, from top brands, and seeking long-term relationships. Consequently, we regularly renew between 25% and 30% of our traditional rental fleet and have an ambitious incremental capex for the development of long-term business through operational renting.

What interest exists in the Peruvian market for equipment rental in mining?

In general, demand for equipment rental in Peru is growing rapidly, in line with global trends, due to the benefits of the business model and its benefits for clients. Mining is no exception; through our specialized and higher-capacity equipment rental business line (operational renting), we seek to become strategic allies to meet the equipment needs demanded by mining, throughout its value chain. Until 2019, we mainly participated intensively in the construction and/or expansion of mines with a limited portfolio of equipment and up to certain capacities. Since 2021, we can offer solutions for mining operations activities with specialized and higher-capacity equipment demanded throughout the value chain, including drilling and blasting, loading and hauling, as well as complementary activities.

What are the implications for SK Rental to be part of the Sigdo Koppers group?

We are aligned with the group’s strategy to offer related services to mining and to focus not only on capex but also on opex of the activity. This allows us, in a context where there is a shortage of new mines, to operate during the decades that a mining operation can last. In addition, we benefit from the focus the group places on innovation and cultural and digital transformation to facilitate transactions and customer relationships.

Can you give more details about the advantages of your digital platforms?

In the Be Rental platform, the client can review the catalog of equipment in our portfolio, both our own and from strategic allies. The visitor can quote synchronously (online) and remotely interact with our executives. Additionally, during the second half of 2022, our clients in Peru will have at their disposal an extranet (My Account). We have designed this tool to support them in the daily management of their businesses.

Furthermore, in June 2021, we launched our platform for buying and selling used equipment, machinery, and trucks in Chile, Peru, Colombia, and Bolivia, called Be-Market. This platform offers our own equipment, as well as equipment from our allies. Be-Market has a wide range of equipment, including descriptive images that show their actual condition, as well as videos, prices, and country of location.
