What are the current growth prospects for mineral processing technologies?
AC: The demand for mineral processing technologies is on the rise every year. In the past, Turkey primarily engaged in basic processing and shipped pre-processed materials overseas. However, companies have now recognized that this approach isn’t profitable. They are making substantial investments in processing equipment to streamline the entire process.
How does Gursan differentiate itself in the Turkish market, and what is its history?
AC: Gursan sets itself apart in the Turkish market by specializing in the production of intricate machinery. We’re the sole company in Turkey that manufactures a wide range of crushers and screeners, including vibrating screens, conveyor belts, and wet/dry processing machines. Unlike our competitors, we handle everything in-house, from design to completion, when a client approaches us. With a 40-year presence in the Turkish market, we export our products to 35 countries.
What types of mineral producers does Gursan typically work with?
ÜN: Gursan predominantly caters to the mining sector, focusing less on aggregates. We collaborate with mineral producers dealing with gold, nickel, cobalt, iron ore, and other challenging minerals requiring extensive processing and constant client support.
What is the reputation of mineral processing equipment made in Turkey in international markets?
AC: Turkish companies often export to North African countries, engaging in price competition that results in financial losses rather than prioritizing superior design. Gursan stands out by prioritizing quality, and for top-notch design, quality machinery, consultancy services, spare parts, and after-sales support, we understand that low prices simply aren’t feasible. A prime example of our success can be seen in Bulgaria, where we entered the market a few years ago and now have five complete plants.
How has Gursan leveraged trends like automation and the Internet of Things?
AC: Gursan has embarked on an innovative project called ‘Smart Crushers.’ This initiative harnesses cutting-edge software and hardware to create an advanced surveillance system. The system calculates material weights entering and exiting the machines, analyzing and reporting any machine faults within a plant. Furthermore, it can suggest necessary spare part replacements and notify operators of maintenance requirements. This system proves invaluable, particularly when processing tough and abrasive materials such as basalt, granite, and gabro.
Can you provide an example of an innovative solution Gursan has brought to the market?
ÜN: Take Gursan’s cone crusher, for example. It’s a testament to the company’s innovative spirit. Gursan continuously refines this product, incorporating hydraulic systems and electrical enhancements. Prior to Gursan’s entry into the market in 2007/2009, cone crushers were only available through imports by international players. Gursan proudly became the first Turkish company to produce cone crushers according to its own unique design.
