What significant projects did Turner undertake in Charlotte during 2020?
Turner’s Charlotte office is part of a network comprising 46 offices across North America. In 2020, some notable completed projects in Charlotte were the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department Independence Division Station, Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools’ Collinswood Language Academy, and the Piedmont Natural Gas Test Kitchen. Presently, ongoing projects in the Charlotte area include the Honeywell Headquarters Interior Buildout, Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools’ East Mecklenburg High School Renovation and Addition, Duke Energy’s Maiden Transmission Operations Center, and the Union County Sheriff’s Office.
How have you adapted your supply-chain management strategies?
Given Turner’s expansive presence, we’ve established robust connections with manufacturing firms nationally and internationally. This proactive approach allowed us to anticipate and address any schedule delays or delivery challenges effectively. While there were hurdles, we managed to recalibrate our strategies swiftly, preempting any disruptions to the supply chain. Drawing from the lessons learned in 2020 and prior years, Turner introduced SourceBlue, an integration of our established national procurement, global sourcing, and logistics programs. SourceBlue consolidates our supply chain efforts, managing procurement, expediting and tracking deliveries, handling warranty issues, and overseeing closeout processes.
What sectors are currently fostering demand in the region?
Presently, the most active sectors in the Charlotte area encompass commercial development, healthcare, public sector initiatives, aviation, and data centers. The developer-driven market remains potent, largely due to the influx of companies either relocating to Charlotte or seeking new office spaces. This surge in demand is contributing significantly to the local market’s vitality.
